Score stands 14–2 against some giant caterpillars. August is the good month: lots of tomatos everyday to replace the blueberrys.
This was a great summer for the blueberry bushes! Two of them produced daily handfuls for about a month, with the other small one we planted year growing. It was awesome to take my son out and pick fresh blueberries for him to devour, he couldnt get enough. Sadly, it is September now and the only blueberries are in the supermarket...until next year.
Last year we planted a full bed of garlic after clearing the bed. It worked out and we were able to enjoy the harvest throughout the year! Will have to find pictures of the end result (a basket of garlic)
We raised baby chicks starting in the brooder in the garage. Once they were old enough we moved them outside into the mobile coop with an electric fence surrounding it. 12 of the chicks made it to adulthood and we had a plethora of eggs...until the bobcat found us :(
Last year we tapped two maple trees in an attempt to make our own maple syrup for the first time.
Drill hole in tree and hang bucket under --> filter --> boil/reduce --> Maple syrup
will have to find pictures of the tiny mason jar of syrup we ended up with..it was delicious.
Spent a month of nights and weekends building a mobile chicken coop with the plan of moving it around my yard to help the soil. I was under a time crunch since we had already ordered the chicks from our local hardware store! need to try to find some better pics of the process.
After growing tomatos over the summer, the real work or processing needed to be completed and my wife made and canned some sauce!
Built 3 more raised garden beds, lets see how long they will last.
